Join in with the 100 Geocache Challenge!
Our intrepid Kent Branch (aka Team Autism All Stars) have set themselves a fantastic 100 Geocache Challenge, and you’re very welcome to come along and join them in the hunt for buried ‘treasure’.
Geocaching is fantastic fun and is becoming increasingly popular with people who want to enjoy family fun in the great outdoors. It’s described by Wikipedia as ‘an outdoor recreational activity, in which the participants use a GPS or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called “geocaches” or “caches”, anywhere in the world. A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook where the geocacher enters the date they found it and signs it with their established code name. After signing into the log, the cache must be placed back exactly where the person found it. Larger containers such as plastic storage containers can also contain items for trading, usually toys or trinkets of little financial value, although sometimes they are sentimental.’
On Saturday 31st August, they’ll be setting off around Sevenoaks, Tonbridge and the surrounding areas at around 7am and finishing on Sunday 1st September, during which time they aim to uncover 100 hidden ‘geocaches’. Some caches can be found near each other, some are far apart, some can be found using a car and some can be found on mini hikes!
You’re most welcome to join them, and any sponsorship would be very gratefully received. You can sponsor them via their Virgin Money Giving page here:
